Enhanced Particle Removal from Inertial Guidance Instrument Parts by Fluorocarbon Surfactant Solutions

چکیده

Entropic Systems, Inc.'s enhanced particle removal process is a new technology that is being successfully applied to the cleaning of inertial guidance instrument parts. In this process, the part to be cleaned is contacted, under conditions of shear, with a solution of a high molecular weight fluorocarbon surfactant in an inert perfluorinated liquid. It is then rinsed with a volatile perfluorinated liquid which is easily evaporated. The perfluorinated liquids of interest are nontoxic, nonflammable, and environmentally compatible. They do not contain chlorine or bromine, and thus do not present a hazard to the ozone layer. An order of magnitude increase in the rate and extent of fine particle removal from the surfaces of a wide variety of instrument parts is observed when CFC-113 is replaced as the cleaning liquid in an ultrasonic bath by a solution of a high molecular weight fluorocarbon surfactant in an inert perfluorinated liquid. It has also been noted that residual surfactant adsorbed on the cleaned parts is quantitatively removed by subsequent rinsing with clean perfluorinated liquid. A manufacturing scale system which embodies the various elements of the ESI process is presently under construction. In this system, the fluorinated process liquids are recovered and recycled to minimize consumption and fugitive losses, so as to satisfy both economic and environmental imperatives.

حذف کروم (VI) از محلول آبی بوسیله کربن فعال اصلاح شده با سورفکتانت کاتیونی بنزآلکونیوم کلراید

Background and purpose: Chromium hexavalent compounds are carcinogens that are found in groundwater as chromate and dichromate negative ions. The aim of this study was to remove Cr (VI) from water by activated carbon modified with cationic surfactant alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (Benzalkonium chloride). Materials and methods: In terms of the Critical Micelle Concentration (CMC) of...

Sub-micron Particle Removal Efficiency of Electrically Enhanced Wet Scrubber A. Laitinen, K. Vaaraslahti and J. Keskinen

Wet scrubbers are mainly used to remove undesirable gaseous components from flue gases. Normally most scrubbers have low removal efficiency for fine particles. One way to increase the fine particle removal efficiency is to use pre-charging. Particles can be charged by corona discharge like in an electrostatic precipitator. Charged fine particles are removed by the combined effect of i. Inertial...

MODIFICATION OF CLINOPTILOLITE BY SURFACTANTS FOR MOLYBDATE (99Mo) ADSORPTION FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

Experiments were conducted to study the ability of surfactant-modified clinoptilolite for molybdate adsorption from aqueous solutions. Clinoptilolite was treated with some cationic surfactants. Adsorption of surfactants on zeolite surface was confirmed by chemical analysis, IR (Infra-Red Spectroscopy), DTG (Derivative Thermogravimetry) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) techniques. The modi...

Removal of crystal violet from aquatic environment by surfactant-modified dolomite

This paper presents the adsorption of crystal violet (CV+) from aqueous solution on surfactant-modified dolomite. Liquid phase batch operations were carried out to observe the effect of various experimental parameters such as initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, pH and NaCl concentration. The optimum conditions for these parameters were calculated by Taguchi method. Equilibrium isotherm...
